“Selo” is the Ukrainian word for “village”. The name of the group, “Selo Ukrainian Dancers” is perfect for the group who had its humble beginnings in a village - a small village east of Winnipeg.
The troupe, which is comprised of 100 performers, incorporates the many different regions of Ukraine: Hutzul, Bukovyna, Polissa, Lemko, Volyn, Transcarparthian and Polata.
The Selo Ukrainian Dancers have travelled throughout the world and Canada with tours in Ukraine, Alberta, Europe, New York, San Diego, Winnipeg. They were also honoured to be commissioned to perform in Winnipeg for His Beatitude Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk, at a synod of over 40 bishops from the world.
